Local Restaurants & Places to Eat around Martock

Rose and Crown

Silver St, East Lambrook, South Petherton TA13 5HF, UK – 01460 240433

Super pub with Palmer's beer and good food. Efficient run with plenty of room in an ancient building that remains cool in the heat of summer.

Great service and has a gluten free menu. Lovely food

Hollies Hotel

Bower Hinton, Martock TA12 6LG, UK – 01935 822232

Lovely out of the way spot in Martock. Great staff who are super attentive, check in was a breeze and they upgraded us. Front desk manager also tipped us to a great activity as soon as he heard we like taking classes when traveling. Love that local knowledge. Hotel is clean, updated and thoughtful to travelers. Ample parking is available. Lovely terraces attached to our room was calm and peaceful. The restaurant on premise is good. Setting there is special and lovely. With very attentive staff who are great problem solvers. I would say that they need to box the ears of the kitchen a bit. I had a very yummy starter but my main was a bit of a let down. Veggies were obviously frozen veg steamed (taste gives it away) but the pork was very tasty. Crackling a bit rubbery though. Desert was amazing and I am not even a desert guy. Overall had a great stay and even with some minor food flubs 5/5 stars. We will be back next year!

Another excellent stay at the hotel. By far the best hotel in this area. Staff are always excellent from reception to bar. Many thanks to Matt. Hope to see you all again soon

Ayshas

The Old Railway, Unit 3, North St, Martock TA12 6FF, UK – 01935 826464

I spy a very mixed bag of reviews for this place but I've always found it decent. Unlike some places the vindaloo isn't just all chilli powder it's got better flavours than that and the other dishes are fine too. The guy on the phone when you call your order in is a delight to talk to, he's a real salesman. Almost makes me feel guilty if I don't order a million poppadoms and naan breads (with associated pickles, chutneys and sides). Yeah, it's on the expensive side and yes, sometimes it seems to take an age for them to cook it but we just wander over the road to the pub for a pre-dinner pint while we wait. Good stuff.
