Rose and Crown

Silver St, East Lambrook, South Petherton TA13 5HF, UK – 01460 240433

Went on a quiet Wednesday evening mid June and whilst not busy had a very enjoyable evening with good food and pleasant, friendly service.... Wednesday is steak and grill night and well worth a visit.....

Super pub with Palmer's beer and good food. Efficient run with plenty of room in an ancient building that remains cool in the heat of summer.

Hollies Hotel

Bower Hinton, Martock TA12 6LG, UK – 01935 822232

Lovely out of the way spot in Martock. Great staff who are super attentive, check in was a breeze and they upgraded us. Front desk manager also tipped us to a great activity as soon as he heard we like taking classes when traveling. Love that local knowledge. Hotel is clean, updated and thoughtful to travelers. Ample parking is available. Lovely terraces attached to our room was calm and peaceful. The restaurant on premise is good. Setting there is special and lovely. With very attentive staff who are great problem solvers. I would say that they need to box the ears of the kitchen a bit. I had a very yummy starter but my main was a bit of a let down. Veggies were obviously frozen veg steamed (taste gives it away) but the pork was very tasty. Crackling a bit rubbery though. Desert was amazing and I am not even a desert guy. Overall had a great stay and even with some minor food flubs 5/5 stars. We will be back next year!

Another excellent stay at the hotel. By far the best hotel in this area. Staff are always excellent from reception to bar. Many thanks to Matt. Hope to see you all again soon

The Bell Inn

Great staff, atmosphere and food. A beautiful country pub, the like of which you seldom see anymore. Highly recommended for absolutely everyone!

A great pub. The locals made us feel very welcome. Reasonable prices and good food, and well looked after ales. What more can you ask? Wish we had a pub like this close to us!

Ayshas

The Old Railway, Unit 3, North St, Martock TA12 6FF, UK – 01935 826464

I spy a very mixed bag of reviews for this place but I've always found it decent. Unlike some places the vindaloo isn't just all chilli powder it's got better flavours than that and the other dishes are fine too. The guy on the phone when you call your order in is a delight to talk to, he's a real salesman. Almost makes me feel guilty if I don't order a million poppadoms and naan breads (with associated pickles, chutneys and sides). Yeah, it's on the expensive side and yes, sometimes it seems to take an age for them to cook it but we just wander over the road to the pub for a pre-dinner pint while we wait. Good stuff.

The Brewers Arms

18 St James's St, South Petherton TA13 5BW8, UK – 01460 241887

Visited at lunch time today with family. The landlady was very accommodating and considerate towards our elderly Mother. We all enjoyed a very nice meal, which included a variety of Curries and Fish and Chips. Followed by delicious home made deserts and coffee. They can also accommodate wheelchairs. Although we didn't use it they have a good size outside seating area.

Perfect birthday lunch today. Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. Looking forward to going again soon

The Prince Of Wales

Ham Hill, Stoke-sub-Hamdon TA14 6RW, UK – 01935 822848

Stunning location perched on the top ridge of the Leland way national trail. Stopped on the way back from Ilfracombe, rather than sit on the M5 in hours of queues....to see the real Somerset countryside. The pub does wonderful food, all day (certainly on a Saturday) and music at times too. I had red pepper and tomato soup, followed by a wild boar burger...both were fab. Plenty of parking, but busy, especially in the good weather!

Great location, the pub itself is pretty good There's plenty of outdoor seating. The marquee area where outdoor events are held continues to to improve and now has a hard, level floor. The pub's own car park is adequate for average days however when it's busy you'll have to use Ham Hill's other car parks which can involve a walking a few hundred yards/metres with some slopes. Look out for regular events such as the annual Sunset Ridge festival in June.
